Minister Thümler visits PHWT

26. Feb 2021

On Thursday, President Prof. Dr. Dennis De and two PHWT students received Lower Saxony’s Minister for Science and Culture, Björn Thümler, as a guest. During a short tour and an overview of the modern equipment in the Centre for Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering (ZME) and the Centre for Materials and Technology (ZWT), Bachelor students Jennifer Sissi Lange and Jannek Kolhosser reported on their current projects in their dual studies.

Afterwards, there was a discussion and question and answer session with Minister Björn Thümler, Diepholz District Administrator Cord Bockhop, Mayor Florian Marré, Dr Thomas Schulze from the Ulderup Foundation and with Member of the State Parliament Marcel Scharrelmann. One of the topics discussed was the future of private universities in comparison to state-funded universities in general. In the future, for example, cooperation in the form of projects could become conceivable.

The participants of the round agreed that the region will continue to benefit from highly qualified graduates such as those offered by the PHWT, and thus the human capital will remain strong locally. Minister Thümler sees the PHWT in Vechta and Diepholz as “a pearl” in Lower Saxony and left the visit with an “excellent impression”.
